Vantage 2: Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Vantage 2 tactical robot?
The Vantage 2 is a tracked, stair-climbing ground robot built for SWAT, bomb squad and hazmat teams. It carries a color drive camera, a 25x pan-tilt-zoom camera, FLIR thermal and automatic IR night vision, plus two-way push-to-talk audio, so officers can see, hear and talk to a subject from a safe distance.
Can the Vantage 2 climb stairs?
Yes. Transcend's patented mobility technology climbs international stairs and obstacles up to 16 inches with the push of a joystick, and turns on tight staircase landings. No special controls are needed.
How far can the Vantage 2 operate from the controller?
Up to 500 feet non-line-of-sight and 1,500 feet line-of-sight with the standard radio. The system is IP-agnostic, so agencies can run Silvus or other approved radios for longer range.
How long does the Vantage 2 run on a charge?
About 3 hours of continuous driving or 12 hours idle per battery. Batteries swap in the field, and the robot and controller both charge from wall power, a vehicle or a generator.
How much weight can the Vantage 2 carry?
About 40 pounds on flat ground and 25 pounds up stairs. The payload bed and Picatinny rails accept the Hot Gas Delivery System, the Multi-Mission Arm, hazmat/CBRNE sensors and other accessories. The robot itself weighs about 40 pounds with battery.
Is the Vantage 2 made in the USA?
Yes. The Vantage 2 is designed and built in the USA.
